Contact: Craig Chastain, 503-614-1554; Mission Connexion, 503-924-3824

PORTLAND, Oregon, Jan. 16 /Christian Newswire/ -- At a time in history when the United States is regarded by much of the world with mistrust, anger or fear, American Christian missionaries and service organizations continue their tireless efforts for humanitarian service -- often directly in harm's way.

On rare occasions, these people and organizations gather together to re-energize, share resources, and inspire others to get involved in missions work. Such an event is Mission ConneXion Northwest, a two-day gathering in Portland, Oregon which celebrates and educates on the challenges, the dangers and the opportunities of serving others around the world.

The event is free and open to everyone.

More than 125 informative workshops will be presented, including presentations from a number of world class speakers who have served in areas of great need around the globe. They include world evangelist and author Luis Palau, missions innovator Reuben Ezemadu, and former Taliban prisoner Heather Mercer.

At a time of such great need and great suffering, the Christian missionary continues a centuries-old tradition of service through the fulfillment of the biblical Great Commission. The purpose of Mission Connexion is to assure that this tradition continues.
