CHICAGO, July 10 /Christian Newswire/ -- For the 12th summer in a row, college students from all over the country are walking across America from Seattle to Washington, DC.  The grassroots group is called Crossroads, and they walking to promote the sanctity of all human life, from its very beginning in the womb until natural death.

Jaime Racki, 20, of Hinsdale, Illinois, has found the experience to be deeply fulfilling, despite the hardships.  “After walking nearly two-thirds of America and encountering thousands of people, it is easy to say that majority of Americans are pro-life.”

Crossroads, founded in 1995, has reached millions Americans speaking at churches alone with the message that Americans must stand up and protect human life.

“In the week that America celebrates the Declaration of Independence, it is a glaring contradiction that we should deny the right to life and liberty to millions of unborn persons,” said Martha Nolan, National Director of Crossroads.  “Until the cultural and moral problems that emanate from this crisis are settled, America will not be able to begin the healing process.  But whatever happens politically, our purpose is to change hearts and minds, and we are in this fight for the long-haul.”

This summer, there are three walks, each with about fifteen volunteers, originating in Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, respectively, each concluding in Washington, D.C., on August 12.

“By their own admission, we know that abortion-rights advocates have lied to Americans about the reality of abortion. They have disregarded the harmful effects that abortion has on women, physically and psychologically, and the negative effect it has had on the culture, generally.  But they are beginning to tell the truth about one thing:  that the pro-life side is winning.”
