SOMERSET, N.J., Nov. 15, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- Rev. Dr. DeForest B. Soaries, Jr., Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens (FBCLG) will celebrate his 23rd Pastoral Anniversary on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at the 7:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m., and 11:00 a.m. services. Bishop Donald Hilliard Jr., Senior Pastor of the Cathedral International in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, will be the guest speaker at the 9:00 a.m. service, and Bishop Reginald Jackson, Pastor of St. Matthew AME in Orange, New Jersey, will be the guest speaker at the 11:00 a.m. service.

Rev. Dr. Soaries and his wife First Lady Donna Soaries, along with their two sons, came to First Baptist Church in November of 1990. They immediately began to serve the church and community. "It has been my pleasure to lead this dynamic church for 23 years," said Rev. Soaries. "I never imagined that I would be here this long. This has been an amazing journey for me and my family and I thank God for giving me the opportunity to serve such a great congregation."

Rev. Dr. Soaries' pastoral ministry emphasizes spiritual growth, educational excellence, economic empowerment and faith-based community development. To address the issue of debt among what is now a 7000- member congregation, he created the dfree® strategy which teaches people how to break the barrier of financial bondage. He led the creation of Harvest of Hope Family Services which addresses the needs of foster children, and the Central Jersey Community Development Corporation whose mission it is to improve the social, educational, and economic conditions in targeted areas throughout the state of New Jersey.

Under his leadership FBCLG continues to experience phenomenal growth. In 2000, the congregation outgrew its previous facility and in 2003, they marched into a new state-of-the-art building. This building serves both the multicultural FBC family and the community at large.

In honor of Pastor Soaries 23 years of service, First Baptist Church members and friends are asked to attend the services and of Lincoln Gardens will honor Pastor Soaries' 23 years of services and show appreciation for the Soaries Family with a note, a card, or a gift. The church is located at 771 Somerset Street, Somerset, NJ, 08873.
