Black and White Christian Music Fans Come Together at ChristianMusicDaily.com

BUFFALO, N.Y., Feb. 13 /Christian Newswire/ -- The new ChristianMusicDaily.com Web site is unique because it brings together two different worlds: white contemporary Christian pop/rock music and black Gospel.

"The Christian music world is a bit too segregated for my taste," says Mark Weber, the owner and editor of ChristianMusicDaily.com. "So what I'm attempting to do with this Web site is to present news and interviews with a variety of artists from distinctly different backgrounds in order to broaden Christian and Gospel music fans' scope when it comes to the CDs they buy and the concerts they attend."

Weber, who is white, is the author of several books about Christian and Gospel music, including "Anointed Voices: Christian recording artists on faith, music, and life," available at www.lulu.com/christianmusic. Having been involved in the industry for over a decade as a journalist, he's noticed that blacks and whites are more divided in the Christian music world than in the secular.

"I've been to enough concerts and events where I've either been surrounded by all white people, or surrounded by all black people, and part of my mission in life is to break down barriers between the races," he says.

Weber notes that there are some artists like Kirk Franklin, tobyMac, and Martha Munizzi who are able to attract both blacks and whites to their concerts.

"But those are the exceptions, rather than the rule," he says. "And I believe that ChristianMusicDaily.com, by virtue of including a smart balance of white pop/rock and black Gospel content, can help bring more people together, something 'the church' should be doing if it's following in Jesus' footsteps."

ChristianMusicDaily.com is frequently updated with news about artists' CD release dates and tours, and also offers an e-mail list to keep fans informed. Mark Weber, its founder, is available for interviews by emailing primopr716@juno.com.
