New Mount Olive Baptist Church Celebrates 94 Years of Service with 'Laughin' Down the Aisle' A Special Comedy Presentation

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Oct. 30, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- In the spirit of celebration and ushering in a new era of service, the New Mount Olive Baptist Church will kick-off its 94th church anniversary with a soul stirring and hilarious night of laughter with five of America's funniest comedians in "Laughin' Down the Aisle." A comedy presentation for the Christian community on, Friday evening November 9, 2012 beginning at 7:00PM, in the main sanctuary of the church located at 400 NW 9th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Comedians Rodney Perry, Jonathan Slocumb, Damon Williams, Chocolate and Lester Barrie will fill the sanctuary with laughter in this original comedy production created and produced by Curtis King, Founder of the Black Academy of Arts & Letters in Dallas, TX. Each comedian featured in this soul stirring comedy rendition brings a unique style of comedy to the stage that will surely leave the crowd laughing for days to come.

Jonathan Slocumb an Atlanta native who boldly affirms: "I will not compromise just to be recognized," is known throughout the comedy circuit as the prince of clean comedy and is a trailblazer in the Christian community. Former Def Comedy Jam and BET's Comic View favorite Chocolate will grace the stage with her hilarious and heart warming Christian jokes about her experiences in life. Also on stage will be Lester Barrie, a former co-host of Spread the Word with Andre Russell on 102.3FM in Inglewood, CA and co-star in the Wayans's Bros. film as the preacher in "Don't Be A Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice In the Hood," will bring the house down with his unique form of comedy. Damon Williams and Rodney Perry will round out the evening of laughter with their zany antics and storytelling for the amusement of all. Williams one of the hottest young comedian/actors has had numerous television appearances on BET's Comic View, BET Live, and hosted several episodes of Showtime at the Apollo before being a featured opening act for the highly successful Kings of Comedy tour which established him as one of the elite Comics of the nation. Rodney Perry the former sidekick on the Mo'Nique Show recently completed his first comedy special, "Rodney Perry- All the Way Live," will bring the house down with his good ole' down home comedy that will have the audience wanting more.
