JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, March 6, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- Worldwide Marriage Encounter (WWME) announced today the selection of a new International Ecclesial Team (IET). They are Daniel and Shelley Ee from Singapore, and Fr. Nathanial (Boy) Gomez, from the Philippines.

The IET oversees the Worldwide Marriage Encounter World Council. There are six secretariats that make up the World Council. These secretariats represent countries and their territories in geographical regions and are interdependent in providing services to those who attend the Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekend.

The WWME weekend offers a form of communication based on writing and sharing feelings. Couples learn how to connect at a deeper level and how to keep love growing over the years.

The Ees attended their original WWME weekend in 1981 and over the years have been involved not only at various leadership levels with Worldwide Marriage Encounter, most recently serving as Asian Secretariat leaders with Fr. Gomez, but with other family life ministries. Fr. Gomez attended his original weekend in 1986 and also has been very involved with the movement since that time.

"Daniel and Shelley and Fr. Boy bring many gifts with them to this role. They are visionary leaders who lead with gentleness and wisdom," said Scott and Karen Seaborn and Fr. Tom Ogg, the North American Ecclesial Team.  They were involved in the process of selecting the new IET leadership.

Worldwide Marriage Encounter has been offering weekend experiences for over 45 years and is considered the original faith-based marriage enrichment program.  The programs are continually updated to keep abreast of changes in society, and WWME now offers evening and half-day programs that are presented at parishes and other church facilities.  The weekend program, traditionally presented as an overnight experience at a hotel or retreat center, can also be presented at the parish where the couples return to their homes in the evenings.  WWME has a presence in over 95 countries, which makes it the largest pro-marriage movement in the world.  In North America, the WWME programs are presented in English, Spanish, French, and Korean languages.

In North America, the WWME programs were presented to more than 10,000 couples and priests in English, Spanish, French, and Korean languages in 2013.

Worldwide Marriage Encounter offers married couples the opportunity to spend time together away from the busyness of the world to focus on each other.  It offers tools for building and maintaining a strong, Christian marriage in today's world.  To learn more about the Worldwide Marriage Encounter weekends online to wwme.org or contact the WWME Office at (909) 863-9963.
