"The ABCs of Protecting Marriage" -- a live simulcast event with hundreds of churches across California to help California voters understand the importance of voting "Yes on Proposition 8" in order to define marriage as between one man and one woman.

WHO:
Guests include families and professionals who have had personal and religious freedoms attacked because of the passage of gay marriage in their states and countries:

  • Pastor Ake Green, Sweden - was sentenced to prison for preaching from the pulpit that homosexuality is a sin
     
  • David and Tonia Parker, Massachusetts - David was arrested and jailed overnight for requesting that the local school inform him when they would be teaching homosexuality in his kindergartner's classroom
     
  • Attorney Mat Staver - who argued before the Calif. Supreme Court that the majority of Californians did not support gay marriage
     
  • Attorney Chuck Limandri - who argued on behalf of Calif. firefighters forced to march in a gay pride parade against their will
     
  • Attorney Bob Tyler - representing physicians from North Coast Women's Medical Care Group who were forced to inseminate a lesbian couple or face discriminatory lawsuit
     
  • Photographer Elaine Huguenin, New Mexico - was fined by the New Mexico Human Rights Commission for refusing to photograph a "commitment ceremony"

  • 3,400 pastors participating in regular conference calls;
     
  • 200 churches participating in live simulcast events
     
  • 171 churches phoning their entire church databases;
     
  • 30,000 volunteers going door-to-door to get out the vote

Pastors leading this effort include Jim Garlow, pastor of Skyline Church in LaMesa, Calif.; Chris Clark, pastor of East Clairemont Southern Baptist Church; Miles McPherson, pastor of The Rock Church in San Diego; Dudley Rutherford, pastor of Shepherd of the Hills Church in Porter, Calif.; Jim Franklin, pastor of Cornerstone Church in Fresno; and Jack Hibbs, pastor of Calvary Chapel in Chino Hills, Calif.
