World's Longest Walk Reaches 41,000 Miles

ADA, Okla., June 26, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- Arthur Blessitt just crossed 41,000 miles in Ada, Oklahoma Wednesday June 25 having carried 12 foot cross in 323 nations and major island groups, 82 million steps and carried a total of 18 1/2 billion pounds as a witness for Jesus and for the Glory of God. He is in the Guinness World Records for the world's longest walk. He prays and blesses people. His greatest mission is leading people to know Jesus as Savior and Lord.

He says of the crosswalk. "Jesus did it" He is 73 years old and is walking on, loving people and lifting up the cross as a symbol of hope and peace in this troubled world. He has walked through 54 wars, been in jail 24 times during his historic walk carrying the cross in every nation. Arthur says, "I love Jesus and I love people."

His wife Denise has been with him driving and carrying supplies in 294 nation and island groups. Their 10 year old daughter Sophia also travels with them. This summer he is carrying the cross in the U.S. Arthur first made the cross in 1968 in Hollywood, California to put on the wall of his Jesus coffee house, His Place. He is now carrying his fourth cross. He started carrying the cross around the world on Christmas Day 1969. He says he has no plans to stop "the road is home and the peoples of the world feel like my family."
