PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 23, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ -- An exclusive residential summer camp program designed to prepare female high school seniors for college has opened its application process to receive students nationwide.

Now in its seventh year, the Residential College Prep Summer Program, which was created and is hosted by Teenshop, Inc®. -- an award-winning, Philadelphia-based nonprofit for 'girls with goals'® -- is being held at the prestigious Bryn Mawr College for two weeks from July 12th through the 25th.

The program combines elements of leadership, mentorship and scholarship to provide the participants with various exposure opportunities including methods for improving SAT scores, workshops on strengthening college application essays, money management skills, public speaking training, career-building strategies, STEM, etiquette for life, character development, meet lawmakers during field trip to Washington, DC., visits to other area colleges, health and fitness activities, CPR Certification Course, off-campus community service project, and much more.

"Because the challenges facing women in their career pursuits continue to grow, we thought it most appropriate to broaden the access to this unique program, which has only been available to Teenshop girls," said Founder and CEO Elleanor Jean Hendley.

"Now, due to demand, girls nationwide will have exposure to some of the most accomplished female and male professionals in their respective fields, including local television and radio personalities, in this intensive setting on the campus of Bryn Mawr."

Teenshop, a weekend program founded in June, 1985, has five chapters located in California, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, each one directed by a five-member volunteer team of professional women. More than six thousand girls have been enrolled, and all graduates go to college. Founder Elleanor Jean Hendley is an Emmy Award-winning former CBS3 TV (Philadelphia) eyewitness news education reporter and talk/show producer host, and New Jersey public school teacher.
