NASHVILLE, July 11, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Christian educational television channel NRB Network begins its summer programming season this week with the addition of new shows to its primetime lineup. Documentary series Resisting the Green Dragon premieres on Tuesday, July 12th at 8 pm ET and gives viewers a scriptural perspective on environmentalism. On Thursday, July 14th at 8 pm ET, the home makeover series Building a Difference makes its debut followed by two new primetime specials. NRB Network is seen nationally on DIRECTV channel 378, Sky Angel channel 126 and is streamed live at www.nrbnetwork.tv/watchonline.

Founded in 2005, NRB Network broadcasts family and faith-friendly programming across diverse genres. "It's important to us to continually bring our viewers fresh, quality programming that meets their entertainment needs while reinforcing their Christian values," said Troy A. Miller, NRB Network's President and CEO. "This year's summer lineup delivers a variety of selections we believe our viewers will enjoy and appreciate."

Making it worldwide broadcast debut on NRB Network this week is Resisting the Green Dragon--a twelve-part series from the Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation intended to help churches, schools and ministries discern between biblical creation stewardship and environmental extremism. The series features lectures from experts and commentary from trusted Christian leaders including Tom Minnery (Focus on the Family), Tony Perkins (Family Research Council), Richard Land (Southern Baptist Convention), Wendy Wright (Concerned Women for America), Frank Wright (National Religious Broadcasters), David Barton (WallBuilders), and radio talk-show host Janet Parshall. Resisting the Green Dragon sounds the alarm about the dangers of both secular and religious environmentalism at a critical time in the global debate. It can be seen Tuesday nights at 8 pm and midnight ET on NRB Network beginning July 12th.

Also new to NRB Network's summer lineup is Building a Difference, a half-hour series produced by DeepLight Entertainment that features uplifting stories of community volunteers, organizations and charities coming together to help those with desperate housing needs. The first season, which airs Thursday nights at 8 pm and midnight ET beginning July 14th, is hosted by Chris Simons and Bill Wilson of Northeast Florida Builders Care--a non-profit construction company founded by the Northeast Florida Builders Association of Jacksonville, Florida. The shows highlight the grassroots organization's work in response to the needs of people, including seniors and the disabled, who live in unsafe environments.

NRB Network will also broadcast two primetime specials during its summer season kick-off week. Saving the Country Church is a half-hour program from Village Missions that spotlights the challenges faced by churches in rural communities and what happens when dedicated village missionaries arrive. Village Missions is a non-denominational ministry that provides missionary/pastoral support to establish and sustain community church programs in rural areas across North America. The documentary can be seen at 8:30 pm ET on Thursday, July 14th and again at 12:30 am ET on July 15th.

Following Saving the Country Church at 9 pm/1 am ET is the one-hour special Don't Waste Your Life Sentence which features Pastor John Piper of Desiring God Ministries as he ministers to inmates at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola, LA. The film spotlights the realities of inmates who, despite their circumstances, often have a greater grasp on eternity than those not incarcerated.
