MEDIA ADVISORY, April 5, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- This October, Summit Ministries' leader and founder Dr. David Noebel will retire as president after a lifetime dedicated to raising up generations who defend the Christian worldview. He passes the baton to a new leader, Dr. Jeff Myers. Until the fall, Noebel and Myers will work together to ensure a smooth leadership transition. Noebel will teach at the 2011 summer conferences and continue writing as co-editor for the monthly "intelligence briefing" known as the Summit Journal.

Myers served as president of Passing the Baton International, training millions of youth in leadership and communication skills through life-on-life mentoring. He also served as chairman of Summit for the last several years and is a Summit faculty member.

States David Noebel, "It's hard for me to believe I've already spent five decades doing what I love! But what's easy for me to believe is that Summit is more alive than ever and that Jeff Myers is the perfect new leader for this ministry."

Jeff Myers adds, "We are prepared to mobilize the next generation to intentionally move into positions of culture-shaping influence. The numbers of quality people Summit has trained are staggering -- approximately 150,000 through in-person programs and study courses -- and it's energizing to think of the coming groundswell of influence in our country because of Dr. Noebel's life-long commitment to this ministry."

Summit Ministries, the first educational Christian worldview ministry in the United States, has been the quiet leader in this area of ever-increasing importance. Well-known Christian leaders such as Dr. James Dobson and Josh McDowell have trusted Summit to help train their own children in the war for worldviews. Influencers like Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachman, pro-life activist Lila Rose who exposed Planned Parenthood through undercover videos and best-selling author, Joshua Harris who wrote Kiss Dating Good-bye, are just a few of those who have attended Summit's training courses and have utilized their education to produce life-changing impact across the U.S.

Summit has equipped Christians to stand strong in their faith and have a positive influence on the culture. In 1962, as a young pastor and philosophy graduate student, Noebel opened the doors to an historic hotel in the hippie enclave of Manitou Springs, Colorado. He began inviting teenagers to do something improbable: learn to defend a Christian worldview and inject Christian principles into politics, academia and business.
