MARYVILLE, Tenn., Feb. 19 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Grand Premiere of Americangirlmodel didn't take place on Valentines Day at Maryville College at Bartlett Hall in Maryville, Tennessee as it was scheduled to.

The thousands of free gifts of natural skin care products, bottled water and Hershey's Chocolates were not given out as well as hundreds of extraordinary balloon creations that were to be made for children all day long.

The college president, Gerald W. Gibson was not available for comment, however William Seymour an administrative vice president did contact an AGM worker Friday evening stating the event was being canceled by the college without explanation. The college failed to properly inform the Americangirlmodel event coordinator Melanie Shaw. Calls were made to the college Friday night by Mrs. Shaw however, none of her calls were returned. A signed contract was paid in full for the event to be held Valentines Day from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.

"Thousand of hours and dollars were spent in planning this premier event.  It's sad to think that a Christian college would breech its contact the night before without any explanation knowing we would not be able to find an alternative location in time," stated, Mrs. Shaw, "the College's decision ruined Valentines Day for a lot of girls looking forward to the screening which promotes and introduces girls who believe in high moral standards and values into media and film industries that model those strong family values."

"This is definitely not the conduct we expected from a Presbyterian College especially towards a not for profit educational and charitable foundation for girls."
