LOS ANGELES, Feb. 8 /Christian Newswire/ -- American singer, actor and writer Pat Boone, known for his artistic talents as well as his Christian faith has partnered with international media network GOD TV and its relief and development arm, Angel Mission, to help reduce poverty in a needy village in Africa.

Loiborsoit in Tanzania, the home of a Maasai community, is the site of GOD TV/ Angel Mission's newest Life Center, a concept pioneered by Angel Mission. The facility will be named "The Pat Boone Family Life Center" and will serve the entire community with multiple services.

Each GOD TV/ Angel Mission Life Center is a comprehensive approach to helping alleviate poverty in a particular village and is modeled after the Millennium Villages Project by Dr. Jeffrey Sachs of Columbia University, the United Nations Development Program and Millennium Promise. By making targeted investments in health, education, agriculture and infrastructure, it has been demonstrated that it is possible to escape the extreme poverty that traps millions of people in sub-Saharan Africa.

GOD TV and Angel Mission have already provided clean water and healthcare in Loiborsoit, having built community water wells and a medical clinic. In addition to these services, the new Life Center will provide electrical power; telephone and Internet communications; and educational resources: fostering economic and agricultural development. A secondary school for Maasai children is being planned as the next step.

"We are privileged to partner with Pat and Shirley Boone to impact the everyday lives of several thousand Maasai people," said Rory Alec, co-founder and CEO of GOD TV. "The generosity of the Boone family has inspired us to reach further to help bring about transformation in Africa by broadcasting the life-changing Gospel message as well as by spearheading much-needed community upliftment projects such as this one."

As an international media network, GOD TV focuses on sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with a connected viewing audience of nearly half a billion people worldwide. GOD TV donates a percentage of its revenue to Angel Mission projects, putting a high priority on serving the needs of those who are suffering.

Angel Mission serves widows and orphans, provides clean water and sanitation and develops community Life Centers. In recent months, the charity has become a significant player in international relief and development assistance, including providing assistance to the Haiti Earthquake disaster relief initiative. Angel Mission is best known for its water projects in Africa where it has drilled many wells. The charity owns and operates its own drilling rigs and has eight drilling teams of trained African nationals working in East Africa managing various water projects.
