Celebrities quake in their boots over the diagnosis of cancer because they know no amount of fortune can magically wave away their upcoming battle for life. The disease is not a respecter of persons.
Bobbie Barsky was no different. However she did have one thing going for her that many others do not--she is a prayer warrior. Now not all prayer warriors get healed, but this one did. As she battled Stage IV lung cancer, which had spread to her brain, she sought a deeper relationship with God. This was the bright spot in her battle and the one she speaks most often about in her newly released book, The Silver Lining.
The Silver Lining is an intimate and heart-wrenching account of her journey from health to death's door and back again. Stage IV lung cancer carries a very grim prognosis: According to Dr. Lynne Eldridge at About.com, the life expectancy for a stage IV lung cancer patient is about 8 months. But Bobbie's condition was worse. The cancer had spread to her lymph nodes and her brain, causing her to need immediate brain surgery. Chemo, cyber-knife surgery, and radiation were quickly administered. For Bobbie, however, it was obvious that medical treatment alone was not going to be enough to save her. She needed a miracle.
