WASHINGTON, July 26 /Christian Newswire/ -- Dr. Alveda King, Pastoral Associate of Priests for Life and the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, will join with other African American leaders to demand that abortion and the funding of Planned Parenthood not be included in any health care legislation.

Dr. King will be speaking at a news conference and demonstration on Monday, July 27, at 10:30 A.M.

The location will be outside of Speaker Pelosi's office in the Cannon Building at 1st Street and Independence Ave. SE.

This news conference is part of a weeklong campaign called "Abortion is Not Health Care" sponsored by national pro-life and human rights organizations.

Dr. King states:

"Our message is clear; abortion is neither health care not a benefit. It's genocide. Repair our communities with life affirming programs. My fellow civil rights workers and I will be on Capitol Hill to say that if President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, or anyone else truly wants to reduce the number of abortions, they will not coerce Americans to pay for them and they will not subsidize Planned Parenthood, the billion-dollars business that has killed more black children then the KKK."

Dr. Alveda King may be reached at: 888.735.3448 ext. 251, ask for Margaret

Also on Monday, July 27:

The demonstration will be at the Caroline Family Practice Clinic in Bowling Green, Virginia.

The First Lady will be participating in a ribbon cutting ceremony at the clinic.

The time of the event has not been announced to the public.
