How Adam in His Sin Was a 'Type' or Foreshadowing of Jesus - New Book

LONDON, Nov. 23, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- British Biblical scholar Dr. A T Bradford's latest book brings a new perspective to Paul's description of Adam as a "type" or "foreshadowing" of Jesus.

Romans 5:14 reads, "Death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the offense of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come." How could Adam be a "type" of Jesus? Surely Adam was just a sinner?

Dr. Bradford believes that there is another explanation for Adam choosing to eat -- that he laid down his life for Eve, his wife. And writing thousands of years later, Paul (Ephesians 5:25-26) told husbands to do exactly that for their wives, just as Christ had done for the church, His bride.

According to Dr. Bradford, "The recent tragic shootings in Aurora, Colorado, show that even today, men are hard-wired by God to lay down their lives for those they love. And it was exactly that behavior that Adam instinctively reacted with out of love for Eve. Just as Jesus stepped down into a sin-filled world to reach out to us, so Adam sacrificed himself to reach out to Eve, his bride."

'Adam, Sinner or Saint? Another Look At The Fall' is published by Templehouse Christian Publishing, ISBN 9780956479860.
