BRONX, NY, March 10, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- Francesco Productions is pleased to announce that Father Stan Fortuna C.F.R., known for his use of hip hop in ministry (often referred to as the "Rapping Priest") has written a song in honor of Pope Francis' first anniversary. Entitled "Papa Francesco", it is in English and Spanish and will be released on his upcoming new CD "Word World". There is also a video accompanying the song which can be found on the Francesco Productions home page -- www.francescoproductions.com.

"I recorded this song and compiled the photos to celebrate Papa Francesco's first anniversary," says Fortuna. "I'm inspired by Papa Francesco and happy to be on the front lines with other protagonists to increase the presence of the Church in the street."

Fortuna was a professional bass player who studied with jazz legend, Lennie Tristano, before joining the priesthood and is a founding member of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. He continues to perform jazz with his trio when time permits. However, he is known internationally for his preaching and use of rap/hip hop to teach Catholic doctrine especially to young people and at-risk youth. His music video "Everybody Gotta Suffer" is still one of the most popular Catholic hip hop videos shown around the world.

Francesco Productions, his non-profit organization, distributes his music and teaching materials as well as schedules Fortuna's speaking and concert engagements. He uses modern culture to evangelize and help the poor and needy in the U.S. and abroad. Proceeds from all merchandise sales, concerts and speaking engagements go towards his and the CFRs hands-on work with the underprivileged.
