CHICAGO, April 3, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- For a limited, time, Jesus will share center stage with the Daley dynasty in downtown Chicago. The Thomas More Society and private donors will sponsor "Jesus in Daley Plaza" that will feature a 14 foot tall cross from April 5 - 8 (Holy Thursday evening through Easter Sunday), Sunrise Resurrection service on April 8 and the "The Divine Mercy Project: Prayer in the Public Square," starting on Good Friday, April 6 through Easter Sunday, April 8.

ABOUT THE CROSS AND DIVINE MERCY: From Holy Thursday until Easter Sunday, the cross will be draped with purple linens and the Divine Mercy image will also be shrouded beneath with purple linens. On Easter Sunday, the linens on the cross will be changed to white, and the linens on the Divine Mercy image removed to reveal the 10-foot tall image of the resurrected Jesus.

PRAYER VIGIL: There will also be a 9-day Prayer Vigil that will begin at midnight Central Time after the Holy Thursday evening services and last through Sunday, April 15.

SUNRISE SERVICE: All are invited to the interdenominational Easter celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus on Sunday, April 8, from 6:30 AM to 8:00 AM Central.

"We are rejoicing that our First Amendment right as private citizens to express our religious beliefs freely and openly is still upheld in this traditional public forum, and we again thank the city of Chicago and the Public Building Commission for their continued cooperation in renewing our permit this year," said president and Tom Brejcha, president and chief counsel of the Thomas More Society.

Over twenty years ago, a permanent federal injunction was entered banning permanently any discrimination against religious speech by private citizens on Daley Plaza, where political rallies have been held routinely.

Location for all events and displays is 50 W Washington St., Chicago, IL 60602
