DALLAS, May 5, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- Christ For The Nations announces Gloria Copeland (photo) as the 2014 Freda Lindsay Award recipient. The award is presented to an outstanding woman in ministry each year.

"Gloria Copeland has been a leading pioneer in the Body of Christ," said Ginger Lindsay, Chief Operating Officer of Christ For The Nations, a worldwide missions ministry and Bible institute headquartered in Dallas, TX, and founder of the award.

This award honors the tremendous legacy of Freda Lindsay, who is often known as the "woman who picked up the mantle" after her husband Gordon Lindsay, who founded Christ For The Nations, passed away in 1973. Freda went on to do amazing things and grow the ministry exponentially, all at a time when women weren't typically in ministry. Known for her determination and strong faith, "Mom" Lindsay passed away in 2010, at the age of 95.

"It was then that the Lord impressed upon me how important it is for us to honor Freda's memory and legacy," said Ginger Lindsay. "We decided the best way to honor her was to select another minister who represented the values and character that were so uniquely and consistently demonstrated by Freda. We know she was one of a kind--committed to serving the Lord, the Bible school, world missions, Israel, and her loving family," she said.

Gloria Copeland truly is an example of a woman in leadership whose heart is after God. A New York Times bestselling author, teacher and minister of the gospel, Gloria and her husband, Kenneth, co-founded Kenneth Copeland Ministries in Fort Worth, Texas in 1967.

Gloria preaches worldwide the truth and freedom she has found in God, sharing honest, straightforward messages about how the Word of God has taken her from a life of failure and defeat to a life of victory. As a wife, mother, grandmother and vice president of an international ministry, Gloria is well-acquainted with the challenges people face today and is well-equipped to show them where to find answers to success and the fulfillment of God's plan for their lives.

Gloria has produced more than 70 teaching series covering a wide variety of issues. She is also the author of many best-selling books including Hidden Treasures, Hearing From Heaven and Blessed Beyond Measure. In honor of her achievements and giving to others, Gloria was also selected as "Christian Woman of the Year" by the Christian Woman of the Year Association in 1994.

Through television broadcasts, magazine articles, audio and video resources, conferences and conventions worldwide, Gloria encourages Christians to take hold of what God has made available to them through their relationship with Jesus Christ.

During the April award ceremony Mrs. Dennis Lindsay explained, "We found a minister with striking similarities to Mom Lindsay in our recipient of this award today. This candidate is predominantly a teacher of faith. Through the years she has established, along with her husband, a ministry of integrity that we respect highly. She reflects commitment as she set an example for all women of faith in her character and consistent walk with God. Her stability is an encouragement to all women in ministry."
