AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 29, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ -- Heroic Media, a pro-life organization that uses multimedia to present life-affirming resources to pregnant women, launched a post-abortion healing video resource for use at churches on Sanctity of Life Sunday. The video resource, titled "The Apology" has been downloaded for use in over 2200 churches and 100 pregnancy centers nationwide.

Jim Garlow, senior pastor of Skyline Church in San Diego, California, describes "The Apology" as, "a Biblical, heartfelt first-of-its-kind look at the most important social issue in our day: abortion." The video shares testimonies from three Christian men who have abortions in their past, and who were once wrecked with shame and guilt. This short film offers the hope that is found only in Jesus Christ and ministers deeply to post-abortive women, as the men apologize for their role in the abortions. Prayerfully, it also calls men who have abortions in their past to acknowledge their role and responsibility and to seek healing for themselves.

Approximately 1,000,000 abortions occur each year in the United States and research reveals that 1 in 3 individuals in the church have been impacted directly by abortion. "The Apology" has reached over 44,000 YouTube views and elicited a parody video on the comedy site, funnyordie.com which has been viewed over 57,000 times.

One YouTube viewer commented:

"Thank you gentlemen for the apology. As a woman who aborted her child, mainly because the father of the baby didn't want the responsibility of the baby, your apology will help many women hurting from aborting their babies. My baby's father refuses to acknowledge his part of the pain I have endured from aborting our baby. There will be women who will claim you have no right to say what you are saying, but I want you to know they don't speak for those of us who get it. Again thank you so much!!!"

"There are millions of women and men dealing with emotional, spiritual and/or physical pain that their choice for abortion has caused," said Joe Young, Vice President of Operations and Strategic Initiatives for Heroic Media. "This video gives voice to some of that pain. It is a timely message that continues to guide women and men toward healing while flying in the face of claims made by the abortion industry that abortion will solve a problem without lasting effects. The fact that this simple message has been attacked by pro-abortion forces reinforces the impact and power of these stories. Abortion has consequences but healing is possible. The pain felt by those who have participated in an abortion choice is real and undeniable and is far more significant than 'eating a couple of bites of yogurt' as one parody video suggests."

Heroic Media aims to change hearts and minds about abortion, using research-based television commercials, Internet ads, billboards and other forms of pro-life media. Just as with other key issues, professionally researched, produced and placed mass media has been shown to change attitudes toward life and reduce abortions in numerous states. Heroic Media uses mass media to impact culture on the life issue by offering women life-affirming resources. For additional information, visit www.heroicmedia.org
