COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Sept. 4 /Christian Newswire/ -- Thirteen years after commencing a major translation project, Biblica Kenya launched its new Kiswahili Bible at a dedication ceremony September 4, 2009. The guest of honour was His Excellency, the former president of the Republic of Kenya, Hon. Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi.

Biblica Kenya's Kiswahili Bible, Neno: Bibilia Takatifu, comes at an opportune time, with Kiswahili being a major trade language for about 90 million people in several countries in East and Central Africa. This accurate, NIV-like Bible translation uses contemporary language to help readers clearly understand God's message of love and redemption.

During the same occasion, Kenya staff also launched the organization's new name and corporate brand: Biblica Kenya. Formerly IBS Kenya, the ministry changed its name to better reflect its core purpose to transform lives through the Word of God.

"The launch of an important new, contemporary Bible translation in a language spoken by millions of Africans is an excellent time to announce new branding that we hope will also become familiar to millions of Africans," said Biblica Africa Group Vice President Benn Omollo. "We are thankful to God for His provision over the years to make the Kiswahili Bible translation possible. We are just as thankful for His provision for Biblica, enabling us to share God's Word with people throughout Africa for many years."
