MEDIA ADVISORY, July 21 /Christian Newswire/ -- For missionaries who are just beginning their careers in missions, the new demands and challenges can be intimidating, even becoming serious obstacles. World Gospel Mission, an interdenominational missionary-sending agency, offers a program designed to assist and empower newbie missionaries.

The Missionary Discipleship program is a three-year commitment. It includes a year of training and fundraising and two years on the missionary's country of service. Throughout the process, the missionary is involved in mentoring relationships with retired missionaries, staff, and fellow missionaries on the field.

"There are so many positive things about this program," said Tim Rickel, vice president of Development. "Missionary disciples only have to raise funds for two years instead of the usual four, and they are equipped with much-needed training and mentoring."

Missionary disciples with World Gospel Mission serve as missionaries in 11 countries, ministering through education, medical care, church ministry, children's and youth outreach, social work, and more.

"Basically, if you have been called by God to serve Him as a missionary, we want to help you fulfill that call!" said Rickel. "Whatever your gifts are, we have a place to plug you in."

According to Dino Crognale, missionary disciple to Kenya, "The whole Missionary Discipleship Program seems to be created with the intention of helping new missionaries be successful. [The WGM staff] seems to anticipate our questions and needs and have created an environment to help us through the process step by step."
