Barack Obama 'Values Tour' Not Representative of Real Pennsylvania Values

WASHINGTON, Sept. 19 /Christian Newswire/ -- Today, in response to the Barack Obama campaign's new effort to reach values voters in battleground states the President of the Susan B. Anthony List offered the following statement:

"Barack Obama knows his extreme record on abortion doesn't resonate with everyday Pennsylvania voters, so now he's trying to soften his image with a so-called ‘values tour,'" said Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. "It is cynical - because religious language without the actions to support it is so transparently empty. If you can't save one of the 'least of these' - a dying baby who survives an abortion - because you see it as a 'burden,' one wonders who is really at the heart of your faith. The great ME or the Great I AM."

The Obama campaign recently announced an official faith tour in battleground states called, "Barack Obama: Faith, Family and Values Tour. Voting ALL Our Values." The tour seeks to reach liberal to moderate evangelicals, Catholics, and some conservative evangelicals. Headlining the tour are former Indiana Congressman Tim Roemer, Catholic legal scholar Doug Kmiec and author Donald Miller.

"The Susan B. Anthony List will be mobilizing pro-life women voters in battleground states across the country. Once Pennsylvania women learn the truth about Barack Obama’s extreme support for abortion on-demand, any support gleaned from his phony 'values tour' will quickly evaporate."

In addition to extensive fundraising for pro-life candidates, the Susan B. Anthony List will implement "When Women Vote, Pro-Life Candidates Win!"-- a sophisticated voter mobilization program that will target 1.4 million pro-life women voters through mail, radio and phone-banking across Pennsylvania and seven other battleground states: Colorado, Ohio, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, and New Hampshire. The Susan B. Anthony List plans to invest over $6 million in its 2008 efforts.

Since its founding, the Susan B. Anthony List has helped elect 75 pro-life candidates to the House, seven to the Senate, and seven to other statewide offices across the country.

The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of Americans, over 147,000 residing in all 50 states, dedicated to mobilizing, advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics. Its connected Candidate Fund increases the percentage of pro-life women in the political process.
