Philanthropist Gives Caregiver Scholarships/Contest Open

Contact: Kathy Carlton Willis, 956-642-6319

RIDGECREST, NC, July 30 /Christian Newswire/ -- Recognizing the unique needs of caregivers, LifeWay Ridgecrest Conference Center will host SomeOne Cares Christian Caregiver Conference, a conference for caregivers, church staff, lay leaders and others September 16-19, 2008.

Author/Speaker Carmen Leal founded SomeOne Cares because she knows firsthand the needs of caregivers. She was her husband's caregiver through the journey of Huntington's disease for twelve years. When asked about the primary goal for the conference she said, "Ultimately, the most important goal of this conference is to help both churches and caregivers focus on the One who cares for them as they care for those they love."

The Cecil Murphey Scholarship Fund has donated six scholarships which will cover: one full conference registration as well as room and board at the conference center. Scholarships do not include transportation.

Caregivers wishing to enter the contest may e-mail Carmen Leal by sending name, address, phone, email, along with a list of three things someone did for them as a caregiver that helped them get through a difficult day. Examples: a church youth group offering to clean or a neighbor cooking dinner. Applications with a list not exceeding 150 words will be considered. Scholarship winners will be chosen at random. The deadline for application is August 22, 2008.

Send scholarship applications to:
carmen@carmenleal.com

This conference is designed to reach those who are searching for spiritual comfort, relief, and direction as they experience the loss, frustration, anger, grief, and hopefully, the joy of care giving.

The conference will be packed with daily praise and worship, general sessions featuring passionate talks, multi-media presentations, drama, music and sculpting, over 40 concurrent workshops, resource tables, mealtime round table discussions, and a Friday night concert with Scott Krippayne.
