WASHINGTON, Jan. 18 /Christian Newswire/ -- A prayer vigil will begin on Monday, January 19th, at 12:30 P.M. in front of the White House on the Pennsylvania Ave. side.

For the past 19 days, Christians have been fasting and praying for President-elect Obama in front of the White House as well as their local communities, churches and homes.

The event was sponsored and organized by the Christian Defense Coalition.

It is fitting that the final prayer vigil falls on the Dr. Martin Luther King Holiday during which the nation will be focusing on justice, faith and the power of collective prayer.

During the 19 days of prayer Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney Director of the Christian Defense Coalition has been out in front of the White House daily praying Dr. Billy Graham's 40 year old Inaugural prayer.

(That prayer can be viewed here.)

A key portion of that prayer includes:

"O God, our new President needs Thee as no man ever needed Thee in leading a people!  There will be times when he will be overwhelmed by the problems at home and abroad that have been building up to the breaking point for many years.  Protect him from physical danger.  And in the lonely moments of decision grant him an uncompromising courage to do what is morally right."
