WASHINGTON, Oct. 2, 2016 /Christian Newswire/ -- As the Supreme Court becomes a key issue in the Presidential race, activists plan historic screening of pro-life film and will conduct a prayer vigil and public witness at the Court.

Groups plan to show the award winning film "Voiceless" as well hold a prayer vigil on the public sidewalk in front of the Supreme Court on Sunday, October 2, at 6:30 P.M.

The Supreme Court begins their 2016 session the next day.

Filmmakers say that "Voiceless" is the first pro-life film that powerfully addresses the reasons why most people don't engage the injustice of abortion. This film is brilliantly designed to inspire and motivate the church to action.

"Voiceless" opens nationwide in movie theaters on October 7.

After the Supreme Court initially denied Church on the Hill's request to show "Voiceless," in front of the court, they reversed their position and now will allow the film to be presented. This marks the first time a film has been given permission to be shown in front of the Supreme Court.

Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Pastor of the D.C. based Church on the Hill and Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, states;

"The next President will have the opportunity to shape and transform the Supreme Court for a generation to come. That is why the Court has become such a major issue in this year's election. We are gathering to pray and seek God's direction and leading for the future of the Supreme Court and our nation.

"We celebrate this historic victory for the First Amendment and free speech by showing the film 'Voiceless' on the most hallowed public space in America. That is, the public sidewalk in front of the United States Supreme Court. As we had to fight to have this powerful film shown, we will continue to be a loud and prophetic voice for human rights and justice working to end the violence of abortion. We will continue to be a voice for the voiceless until abortion ends up on the scrapheap of history like slavery and segregation."

Troy Newman, President of Operation, adds;

"For the pro-life community there can be no more critical issue in this year's Presidential race then the person that will decide who the next Supreme Court Justices will be. The next President who sits in the Oval Office will have the unique opportunity to possibly appoint three new Justices, thereby changing the entire direction of the court.

"This powerful film 'Voiceless' will give innocent children a voice at the very place where it was stripped from them 43 years ago.  'Voiceless' will serve as a unique tool in challenging the pro-life and faith communities to actively engage on the issue of abortion and work to bring this tragic killing to a grinding halt."
