FRONT ROYAL, Va., May 11 /Christian Wire Service/ -- Human Life International’s (HLI) statement on today’s ruling by the Constitutional Court of Colombia.

“The Constitutional Court of Colombia turned its back on its own people and marched to the beat of the pro-abortion drums emanating from the United States and the United Nations…” stated Martha Sáiz de Rueda, president of Fundación Cultura de la Vida Humana, HLI Colombia.

“Fundación Cultura de la Vida Humana working hand in hand with many Colombian human rights organizations sent a petition with 2.5 million signatures, over 30,000 letters from the children of Colombia, and thousands of pro-life amicus briefs to the Colombian Magistrates calling on them to stand with the people of their country to protect their tradition of respecting human dignity.

“The US-trained Colombian lawyer Mónica Roa is a stalking horse of powerful anti-Colombia interests that seek to destroy our culture, steal our children, violate our women and plunder our heritage…” continued Martha Sáiz de Rueda.

“The UN, the Center for Reproductive Rights, Women’s Link World Wide (the group for which Mónica Roa worked), and a plethora of other pro-abortion organizations, had their eyes set on Colombia as a test case. The abortion industry knows it is at odds with the people of Latin America and so they must silence us. Their intentions are to spread this judicial strategy to legalize abortion all over Latin America…” concluded Martha Sáiz de Rueda.
