First Baptist Church in Somerset to Host First Rutgers Day
Contact: Brianna Smallwood, First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens, 732-828-2009

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP,  N.J., Nov. 17, 2016 /Christian Newswire/ -- Rutgers University students faculty and alumni will be honored during Sunday Worship Service at First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens (FBCLG) on Sunday, November 20, 2016, at 11:30 a.m. Students, faculty and alumni, all of whom are welcome to attend, will be celebrated with special presentations and a lunch following the service.

FBCLG and Rutgers decided to team up to create Rutgers Day at FBCLG in an effort to bring students to church who are looking for a church "home away from home" and to encourage more people to take advantage of neighboring FBCLG resources. The service will include live music, speaking, reserved seating for all students, special giveaways and more. Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is within a three-mile radius of FBCLG, for those at the New Brunswick campus. Transportation to and from FBCLG is available for Rutgers guests. FBCLG members have been encouraged to wear Rutgers colors and/or apparel.

"I have had a personal relationship with Rutgers and many Rutgers faculty, staff, students and alumni for a long time, but we're trying to grow that into a more general and consistent relationship with all of First Baptist Church," said DeForest B. Soaries, Jr., FBCLG senior pastor. "It will give me great pleasure to see the church full of Rutgers students and their friends and families."

First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens hopes to make Rutgers Day at FBCLG an annual event. The church is accessible to students at any time and FBCLG looks forward to a growing relationship. The worship service is open and available to all. For further information, call 732-828-2009.
