OMAHA, Neb., April 8, 2016 /Christian Newswire/ -- A first-of-its-kind Catholic Artists Conference will be held Sept. 12-13, 2016 at St. Benedict Center in Schuyler, NE, organized by The Benefactor Committee 501c3.  The theme of the conference is Prayer: Arts from the Heart of God. On these two days, 16 speakers will discuss sacred art in the forms of fine art, sculpture, architecture and music for 100 catholic artists and clergy attendees.  Featured speakers include Anthony Visco, director of The Atelier for the Sacred Arts in Philadelphia, and David Clayton, provost of Pontifex University. Singer/songwriter Tori Harris will also speak and perform. The Faces of Christ Collection exhibit from Europe will debut in the United States at this conference and will remain installed in the chapel of St. Benedict Center for 10 days after the conference.  The Faces of Christ exhibit is free and open to the public.

The Faces of Christ Collection is the anchor of the Catholic Artists Conference because the conference is a fundraiser to collect financial support and identify sponsors for the traveling Faces of Christ exhibit.  The collection seeks to highlight the work of modern-day living artists whose work expresses the message of Christ more effectively than most contemporary or commercial religious art.

Steen Heidemann, author of The Catholic Priest, Image of Christ is the curator and owner of the collection and will speak at the conference. The Faces of Christ Collection is composed of new, mostly figurative works by 30 living artists from around the world. It will travel from Omaha to Chicago, Kansas City, Orlando, Fort Worth, Los Angeles, La Crosse, Washington DC and New York City.  The full collection may be seen online at www.Faces-of-Christ-Collection.com

Sacred art is that which calls one to prayer.  This will be the focus of our conference.  The conversation between God and an artist is manifested in the works of the artist, who is a co-creator with God through the Holy Spirit. So, how does the conversation between the artist and God occur? How is the creativity of Sacred Art documented for the viewer? Come find out!  www.Catholic-Artists-Conference.com

St. Benedict Center is a retreat and conference center founded by the Missionary Benedictines of Christ the King Priory adjacent to the center.  St. Benedict Center has a mission for sacred art: "Art is a means of encountering the resurrected Christ. It is through Him, with Him, and in Him that our fullness dwells."

Register for the Sept. 12-13, 2016 conference at  www.Catholic-Artists-Conference.com.  If you want to see the Faces of Christ Collection from Sept. 14-24, 2016, go to St. Benedict Center in Schuyler, NE during their normal operating hours between 8 am to 8 pm Monday thru Saturday and 9 am to 4 pm on Sunday.
