Contact: Natalie Bell, Media Coordinator, Concerned Women for America, 202-488-7000 ext. 126

WASHINGTON, June 12 /Christian Newswire/ -- Concerned Women for America (CWA) is pleased to announce the selection of Carrie Walker as State Director for Michigan.  CWA state directors serve as volunteer leaders for CWA's activists and volunteers in a given state.

Carrie Walker brings a wealth of experience to the role of state director.  She led a CWA Prayer/Action Chapter in Indiana and was appointed to CWA's national Board of Trustees in 2007.  Carrie holds a degree in International Relations which she used in her work writing briefs for Fortune 500 international corporations to keep them apprised of current legislation.  Moreover, Carrie led a successful bond campaign for a major university and meets with congressional staff in Washington, D.C. to promote pro-family legislation.  At the local level, Carrie serves as a mentor for young mothers through a church-based program, has coordinated fundraising campaigns for her children's school, taught and modeled modesty and purity for young women and fought to free her community from the ravages of pornography.

Under Carrie's leadership, CWA of Michigan will encourage responsible citizenship, promote pro-family public policy and elevate wise servant-leaders to work together.  Carrie's vision is to build a strong network of Prayer/Action Chapters among the 15,000 Michigan members of CWA and to coordinate grassroots action to influence public policy with moral standards.  Carrie plans to build voter awareness, establish a successful "Encourage-a-Legislator" program and work with other pro-family organizations.

"Carrie Walker is a highly qualified role model of an active, informed and dedicated woman.  Her knowledge and caring spirit makes her the ideal person to lead CWA of Michigan in promoting positive legislation and building local chapters," stated Wendy Wright, president of CWA.

Concerned Women for America is the nation's largest public policy women's organization.  Founded by Beverly LaHaye in 1979, CWA enjoys the support of 500,000 women and like-minded men.  Its mission is to protect and promote Biblical values among all citizens – first through prayer, then education, and finally by influencing our society – thereby reversing the decline in moral values in our nation.
