HAMPTON, Va., Jan. 21, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ -- International Cooperating Ministries (ICM), a nonprofit based in Hampton, Va., hosts its first-ever women's conference 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, March 7 at Williamsburg Community Chapel.

Keynote speaker Kim Phuc was immortalized on the cover of Time magazine in Nick Ut's haunting AP photograph "The Terror of War." The picture depicted a wounded nine-year-old girl running naked up the road after South Vietnamese planes dropped a napalm bomb on the village of Trang Bang on June 8, 1972. In 2012, on the 40th anniversary of the Pulitzer Prize-winning photo, Kim Phuc was honored at a tribute in Toronto, Canada. In 1997, Kim established The Kim Foundation International to help provide medical and psychological assistance for children like her victimized by war.

The day-long conference, "Through the Flames: God's hope in the fires of life," is part of ICM's ongoing women's initiative, established in 2014 to fund the construction of 200 churches that will impact the lives of women around the world. The event will celebrate International Women's Day and highlight Vietnam. It will also feature worship music, Bible teaching and fair trade products and other items from local vendors.

Other presenters include New York Times bestselling author Ellen Vaughn, Attorney Janet Ward Black, Pastor Kim Black and Janice Rosser Allen, CEO and Executive Chair of ICM. Local artist Demetria Stallings will lead the time of worship.

The cost to attend the conference is $25, and includes a light breakfast and boxed lunch. The Williamsburg Community Chapel is located at 3899 John Tyler Highway, Williamsburg, Va.
