Online Apologetics Conference Confronts the Anti-Humanism of Earth Day

MILWAUKEE, Wis., April 4, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- Throughout the country, various organizations and media outlets are getting ready for that annual environmentalist bonanza known as Earth Day. Recycling programs, energy conservation, and other ostensibly noble initiatives will be front and center before the public's eyes, but proceeding quietly in the background, without fanfare, many environmentalists are pushing their main agenda: population control.

To save the earth, there must be fewer people.

Since the public is not very receptive to being told that their mere existence is the problem, they don't get to hear that part of the program. Nonetheless, they are very much in view, and a significant amount of public and private dollars is committed to convincing them to have fewer children.

Steven Mosher, the director of the Population Research Institute has been calling attention to what he refers to as the 'over-population myth' for many decades. Originally a pro-choice atheist, he was invited to China to watch the implementation of their 'one child' policy in 1979. The experience rocked him, catapulting him on a trajectory that would see him testifying before Congress and appearing in the media, but now as a pro-life, practicing Catholic.

Mosher is the keynote speaker at an online conference taking place from April 21-23. He will give his presentation, "Save the Earth; Get Rid of the People? The Inhumanity of Earth Day" on April 22nd, elsewhere known as Earth Day.

The annual apologetics conference is hosted by Athanatos Christian Ministries. ACM's Executive Director Anthony Horvath and his wife had been asked if they wanted to abort their daughter, diagnosed with spina bifida. The incident prompted Horvath to investigate why it was that 70-95% of all children diagnosed with birth defects and disabilities were aborted. He was disturbed by the results of his research.

Horvath says, "What one believes about God tends to determine what one believes about Man. If God is out of the picture, Man is the sole arbiter of what is good and right, and people become something to be managed, much like we manage cattle. Sometimes, it is necessary to cull the herd, like when someone is a burden on society -- or the planet."

Horvath's research led to this year's conference theme: "A Defense of the Faith is a Defense of Life."
