SOMERSET, N.J., Sept. 10, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens (FBCLG) will be participating with churches across America in "National Back to Church Sunday" on September 15, 2013, at its 7:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m., and 11:00 a.m. services.

National Back to Church Sunday is a movement inviting people across the nation to come back to church to fellowship with the community. It encourages church attendees and members to reach out to loved ones or anyone desired to join in worship. Since it's launch four years ago, National Back to Church Sunday participants have invited over 5 million people to come back to church.

"As I approach my twenty third year as pastor of First Baptist, I am just as excited about the church today as I was when I first arrived," said Rev. Dr. DeForest B. Soaries, Jr., Senior Pastor of FBCLG. "Our community outreach and development, vibrant worship services and multicultural congregation represent a microcosm of the beloved community that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. envisioned. It is therefore our joy to join churches nationwide to welcome members and friends back to church for this new season of celebration and service."

In his book, The Unchurched Next Door, Dr. Thom Rainer says

"Eighty-two percent of the unchurched are at least somewhat likely to attend church if invited. Yet, only two percent of Christians ever invite someone to church." In addition, a Barna study shows that seventy percent of church going high school students will leave the church when they graduate and only a small percentage will return.

National Back to Church Sunday is a time for people to reconnect. The services are open to the public and the church is located at 771 Somerset St., Somerset, NJ 08873.
