GREENVILLE, SC, Oct. 20 /Christian Newswire/ -- Throughout the month of October America is focusing on violence in the home during Domestic Violence Awareness month. While many programs are being celebrated and many studies are being critiqued, Executive director of Prasso Ministries, Laura Baker, believes it is our need for control that must be addressed. "Domestic violence really comes down to control. Having Christ in control is the first step in addressing violence."

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), in 2005, 1510 people died at the hands of an intimate partner. "This statistic is sad, but not surprising. So many of us want to be in control. Only until we have handed the control over to Jesus will things start to get better. That is what is so powerful about the Prasso materials. They are ideal for helping people deal with issues like control from a Biblical perspective and then helping people practice the principles in their daily lives."

"The Prasso materials are also helpful for the victims who have been hurt deeply by domestic violence. We say that Prasso is a place to start for a new beginning. The word of God brings healing to everyone who practices it."

One woman shared her story of growing up in a home of drugs, alcohol, abuse and emotional abandonment. "I was lonely, filled with pain and sadness. I used 'cutting' and anorexia to try to make the pain go away. I attended Prasso my last year of college. Through Prasso I began to see I had tried to control the pain I felt with pain I inflicted upon myself. Healing has been a process and I am still working on it but I now live in the truth that my security is in Jesus Christ. I am learning to let Him take control. Prasso helped me replace lies with truth."

Prasso Ministries is a non-profit, faith-based discipleship ministry committed to partnering with individuals in their Christian faith journey, helping them to establish wellbeing from a Biblical perspective.
