WINCHESTER, Va., Aug. 1, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- The NonProfit Times has named Dan Busby, ECFA president, to its prestigious Power & Influence Top 50 list for 2012. Busby has been included for three consecutive years among the nation's most innovative nonprofit leaders.

The NonProfit Times has recognized the 50 most influential nonprofit executives for 15 years. They represent top creative and pioneering strategists who seek new ways to meet ever-increasing human needs. Busby joins individuals in the Top 50 Class of 2012 such as Bill Gates, cofounder of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, John R. Seffrin, CEO of the American Cancer Society, and Anna Maria Chávez, CEO of Girl Scouts of the USA.

"Everyone in the Top 50 is at the top of their fields in innovation, flexibility, and accountability," said Paul Clolery, editor in chief of The NonProfit Times. "Today's leaders are addressing issues head-on, setting the bar for others in the sector, and are truly making a difference. The standards ECFA has put in place and enforces have staved off the financial scandals that used to come on a regular basis."

In learning of being named for a third time, Busby praised the member organizations of ECFA for operating their ministries with the highest integrity.

"I'm honored to be among this list of nonprofit leaders," said Busby. "Our goal at ECFA is to enhance donor's trust so that Christian nonprofits can continue to be funded for integral ministries worldwide. This award is possible because of the consistent demonstration of accountability, transparency, and integrity by our nearly 1,700 member organizations."

Busby has over 40 years of experience serving the Christ-centered church and nonprofit community. He is a frequent speaker and prolific writer with 48 volumes of five book titles published. He is a member of the Commission on Accountability and Policy for Religious Organizations, a national legislative advisory commission convened to address legislative proposals for the nonprofit sector in response to a request by Senator Charles Grassley.

ECFA, founded in 1979, provides accreditation to leading Christian nonprofit organizations that faithfully demonstrate compliance with the ECFA standards pertaining to financial accountability, fundraising and board governance.
