SAN BERNARDINO, Calif., April 9, 2018 /Christian Newswire/ -- The 50th Anniversary Convention of Worldwide Marriage Encounter will be live streamed across the world this coming June, it was announced today by Peter & Sheila Oprysko and Fr. Tom Griffith, SVD, the convention ecclesial chair/team. "We thank you all for your blessings and understanding as we proclaim that the 50th Anniversary WWME Convention has been sold out," they said.

"As we tried to determine how to assist others who were not able to sign up for the convention, we have now created a special convention website/livestream area. Those that participate in the live stream will be able to attend the entire convention remotely. Live stream participants will also be able to witness Priest Day, which is always held on Friday during daytime hours," the convention leadership added. The 50th Anniversary WWME Convention will be held in Lombard, IL from June 22 to 24.

Through the use of 21st Century technology this truly could be the largest WWME convention ever held over the past 50 years. The first WWME Convention held in New York had over 6,000 couples and priests and now the virtual convention attendees from across the world can truly exceed that number.

The convention chair team also suggested that local WWME groups could come together to participate in the live streaming event throughout the course of the WWME convention weekend. The live streaming of the convention will be bi-directional which allows for participants to interact with those at the convention site in Lombard.

The cost for this pay per view livestream, which will cover the entire convention – including presentations, Mass etc. – is still being determined, but it will be very low, the leadership chair team said. Those signing up for the live stream program will receive a 50th WWME Convention pin along with a convention dialogue book. Also, those participating in the live stream event can still purchase convention apparel if they go to the convention website. Those items will be mailed directly to them from the convention store.

The Opryskos and Fr. Griffith also pointed out that there is still some availability for the onsite convention live stream program. The cost of the onsite live stream event is $150. A separate room from the main convention location, which can host 300 people, has been created for those who wish to attend the convention via live steam, but at the actual convention location. There are a little more than 175 seats available for that option.

Worldwide Marriage Encounter has been offering weekend experiences for over 50 years and is considered the original faith-based marriage enrichment program. The programs are continually updated to keep abreast of changes in society, and WWME now offers evening and half-day programs that are presented at parishes and other church facilities. The weekend program, traditionally presented as an overnight experience at a hotel or retreat center, can also be presented at the parish where the couples return to their homes in the evenings. WWME has a presence in almost 100 countries, which makes it the largest pro-marriage movement in the world. In North America, the WWME programs are presented in English, Spanish, French, and Korean languages.

Worldwide Marriage Encounter offers married couples the opportunity to spend time together away from the busyness of the world to focus on each other. Priests are also encouraged to attend a WWME weekend, which offers insights into their relationship with the church and their parishioners, and how their Sacrament of Holy Orders interacts with the Sacrament of Matrimony. WWME offers tools for building and maintaining a strong, Christian marriage in today's world.
