JOPLIN, Missouri, Feb. 27 /Christian Newswire/ -- In the last two years, a discovery of great magnitude has occurred in the Pentecostal/Charismatic branch of Christianity.

Previously unknown audio recordings of early Pentecostal leaders have been discovered by Rev. Mel C. Montgomery, and have been uploaded to his website. Visitors may click on "Rare Recordings" and listen to these historic treasures for free.

The numerous audio recordings, made between the 1940's and 1980's are of early Pentecostal leaders including: Howard Carter, Stanley Frodsham, David Du Plessis, and several others. These recordings were either not known to exist, or were thought long lost. None have ever been widely available to the public.

These recordings are of great significance to Pentecostal and Charismatic Christians whose numbers have now surpassed 600 million. Well-known Charismatic ministers include: Joel Osteen, Kenneth Copeland, Oral Roberts, TD Jakes, and Joyce Meyer.

For the first time, Charismatic and Pentecostal Christians can hear the voices of the founders of their movements preaching the Pentecostal message. These recordings are sending shockwaves through the Pentecostal/Charismatic ranks as stunned believers discover that the Gospel their founders preached bears almost no resemblance to what is preached today. Absent are: the unending appeals for money, personal "revelations," promises of every imaginable blessing in return for large donations, hype, gimmicks, and inflated egos.

Instead, these recordings are characterized by: a strong adherence to historic orthodox Christian doctrines, stern warnings against sin, a demand that spiritual manifestations and gifts be welcomed but also be immediately judged, balanced teachings, humor, and humility. The recordings along with Mel's own "tough love" articles in which he confronts extreme teachings, and his focus on balanced spiritual ministry have opened many doors for his itinerant ministry.

"People are really sick of the hype, the egos, the snake oil, and the greed," observes Mel. "They want something real, biblical, and lasting. You can laugh uncontrollably and fall on the floor only so many times before you yearn for a profound and life-changing walk with God. This is found only in the preaching of the Cross, the Blood, and the Resurrection, and as we yield to the Holy Spirit in an orderly way exactly as did these early Pentecostal giants. These recordings are moving many to reject the extremes and to return to our roots."

Rev. Montgomery's website has received over 825,000 hits from people downloading these recordings in 97 countries.
