CWA Repudiates Pro-Abortionists' Baseless Attack on Pregnancy Centers

WASHINGTON, July 20 /Christian Newswire/ -- Concerned Women for America (CWA) repudiates erroneous reports criticizing the selfless work of crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs).  Contrary to Rep. Henry Waxman (D-California), a liberal pro-abortion politician notorious for attacks on charitable people who provide alternatives, both research and experience show that abortion can be physically and psychologically detrimental to women.

“These attacks on CPCs only prove how determined those who profit from abortion are to keep women from seeking alternatives,” said Wendy Wright, CWA’s President. “Abortion advocates stop at nothing to smear respectable, compassionate organizations that educate women on the benefits of choosing to save the lives of their unborn babies.

“Rep. Waxman and his allies would better spend their time educating themselves by talking to women who have experienced the damaging effects of abortion.  Dismissing women’s real experiences and ignoring facts that conflict with their ideology in order to accuse pro-life groups of being ‘deceptive’ blatantly reveals that their obsession for abortion trumps any concern they ever felt for women’s well-being.

“The only goal of CPCs is to equip women with the resources and support they need at a critical, vulnerable point in their life. Their only threat is to the profits of abortion clinics.

“A myriad of research supports the fact that abortion is dangerous and detrimental to women’s health.  A New Zealand study led by David Fergusson found that women who have abortions between the ages of 15 to 25 have significantly greater risk for developing mental disorders later in life. A study conducted by Dr. Joel Brind, president of Breast Cancer Prevention Institute, shows that a significant 30 percent of women who had one or more abortions are at increased risk for breast cancer. Medical experts agree that women are at higher risk of breast cancer by not having or continuing their first pregnancy.

“The abortion industry views CPCs as competition and fears that they will take away their customers.  They know that if women are properly educated on the physical and emotional dangers of abortion, many times they will opt-out of the dangerous procedure.  CPCs take the time to inform women about the consequences of their decision to either continue or end their pregnancy.

“Contrary to deceptive reports by liberals blinded by their agenda, the only harm a CPC will do is put abortionists out of a job and take away their ability to profit from unsuspecting mothers,” concluded Wright.
