Will Gun Laws Change in America? Attorney and Author Randy Singer Spotlights National Gun Debate

CAROL STREAM, Ill., Aug. 26 /Christian Newswire/ -- This spring, several major polls revealed surprising findings on how the public feels about gun control and gun legislation. A CNN poll found that 39 percent of Americans favor stricter gun laws, down 10 percent from 2007. A poll by NBC News and the Wall Street Journal found that support for curbing the sale of assault weapons and semiautomatic rifles dropped from 75 percent in 1991 to 53 percent.

"Guns have always been a heated topic of discussion in this country," says veteran trial lawyer and author Randy Singer. "But, going forward, I don't see much movement on either side of the debate. Fear that President Obama might push for greater restrictions on gun usage has generated record sales in most stores. But the fact of the matter is that Obama hasn't shown much stomach for a fight on this issue."

The issue is one that is close to Singer's heart. In the early 90s, he successfully prosecuted a case against a gun store, arising out of a school shooting. The case drew national media attention and received gavel-to-gavel television coverage.

Singer has parlayed his courtroom experiences into legal thrillers. His latest, The Justice Game (Tyndale House), asks the question of whether justice can be bought and sold in America and spotlights the national gun debate. Singer used an unusual tactic in writing the book and invited his readers to act as the jury, choosing the verdict for the court case at the center of the novel. Readers viewed an online video of the closing arguments before voting.

"My goal is not to make converts to either side of the debate," says Singer. "I want to present both perspectives and allow readers to draw their own conclusions."

Singer is available to discuss a variety of topics including:

-- Interpreting the Second Amendment

-- Gun control and the Obama administration

-- What the Bible has to say about justice and fairness

-- Why gun control and gun rights is a hot topic in America

Randy Singer is a veteran trial attorney, best-selling author of eight legal thrillers, and a teaching pastor. He also teaches at Regent University School of Law and serves on the Board of Legal Advisors for the American Center for Law and Justice.
