EDMOND, Okla., Sept. 24, 2020 /Christian Newswire/ -- In these troubled times, everyone has problems, but some people are overwhelmed, while others seem to bounce back from setbacks and challenges. In the turmoil of life, we often need assurances from a power beyond the physical world. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Yvonne especially needed comfort and devoted herself to prayer to find the strength to face the uncertainty during the lockdown.

"I felt overwhelmed and stressed and looked for prayers to help me," the author shared. "I started to realize that others probably felt the same way. So, I decided to post prayers online (Twitter) each day for myself and others in hopes of helping us remember that God remains in control."

"Prayer is our direct link to our Heavenly Father," continued Yvonne. "The link stands open 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Jesus set the example of praying in His time on earth, so we should follow that example."

Yvonne says that prayer need not be wordy or eloquent. "If you are not sure what to say, start with the Lord's Prayer. Jesus gave us this prayer as a tool to help us get started," she says.

Yvonne shows us how to pray in her new book, Rest in God, published by Arabelle Publishing. This 222-page pocket-sized book is easy to carry in a purse or briefcase and includes 100 prayers to answer all the daily needs of men and women seeking comfort from God. The book also includes 100 meditation scriptures.

Besides 100 prayers and scriptures, Rest in God is also a journal book where one can note personal prayers and answers to prayer. Yvonne explained that a prayer journal is an excellent tool to help us see God's hand in action.

"When I pray and read scripture, I usually find that a situation or need comes to my mind. I write those thoughts down in my prayer journal," shared Yvonne. "When those requests get answered, I go back and update my journal," Yvonne says that reading the journal years later gives her a clear picture of Christ moving through her life, and it reminds her that God never leaves or forsakes us.

For many people, questions may not always have answers leading to unrest. A book like, Rest in God, can be a way to help people use prayer and meditation to restore inner peace to those questioning their faith.

Yvonne believes that God always answers our prayers but not the way we want. Facing the loss of her child, Yvonne learned valuable lessons about prayer and the love of God. "When my son died, I begged and pleaded with God for nine days, not to let him die, and I did not get the answer I wanted. But, looking back, I see God's plan more clearly now and understand that my broken heart would allow me to help orphans.

Twenty years ago, Yvonne founded the Orphan Effort that cares for orphans in Nepal and Myanmar. You can read about Yvonne's journey on the mission field in her memoir, Turning Mountains into Molehills, available on Amazon.

Yvonne's journey and mission is to be the hands and feet of Christ to others in their struggles. She hopes to help her readers build a relationship with God and witness the miracle of answered prayer. Her latest book, Rest in God, will be available on Amazon and through Barnes & Noble and other online booksellers in September 2020.
