Corrupt Politicians are Making Americans Sick

WASHINGTON, Nov. 23 /Christian Newswire/ -- In order to buy votes in the Washington version of "pay to play" politics, Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) inserted a $300 million earmark in his healthcare bill to buy the vote of Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA). After Landrieu secured the $300 million windfall she decided to side with Reid and President Obama. When the media reported that Landrieu pulled off a "$100 million" lottery for her state, Landrieu denied the report but defended her actions by saying, "I am not going to be defensive about asking for help in this situation. It is not a $100 million fix, it is a nearly $300 million fix."
In exchange for the $300 million "Christmas gift," Landrieu will host a fundraiser for Reid, whose 34 percent popularity among Nevada voters does not bode well for him in 2010. Landrieu and political consultant James Carville will host a brunch on Dec. 12 at the New Orleans home of David Voelker, chairman of the Louisiana Recovery Authority and supporter of Barack Obama's presidential campaign. The "cover charge" will be $4,800 per person.
The 2,074-page Senate bill funds abortions, mandates coverage even for those who do not want it, imposes new taxes, and establishes a government-directed system that will bankrupt the country and kill the sputtering economy.
The House and the Senate bills will result in rationed healthcare. President Obama's healthcare advisor, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, supports what he calls a "complete lives" system of health care. His "complete lives" theory rations healthcare for children, adolescents, and the "elderly" by providing priority care to people between the ages of 14 to 40. Emanuel advocates denying care to the disabled "who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens." He added: "An obvious example is not guaranteeing health services to patients with dementia."
Mathew Staver, Founder of Liberty Counsel and Dean of Liberty University School of Law, said, "The President and his allies in Congress are masters of confusion and deception. They create nonexistent 'emergencies' to scare the American people into submission. They have a political agenda which distorts the facts regarding health care. It is immoral to fund the destruction of innocent human life or to withhold medical treatment from the aged or ill. The current healthcare bill funds abortion, rations care, limits freedom, and will bankrupt America."
