Contact: Teri Elgersma, Alpha Omega Publications, 800-682-7391

ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa, Aug. 16, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- As students head back to school, Alpha Omega Publications (AOP) is marking its 35th anniversary in the education market.

A division of Glynlyon, Inc., AOP provides academic curriculum to homeschool families and Christian schools across the world. When growth called for AOP to expand beyond its original Arizona headquarters and open a second branch in 2004, the company purchased the former K-Products building in Rock Rapids and hired just 20 initial employees. Today, the company celebrates an employee growth of 800 percent, as 170 workers commute daily from eight counties across the tri-state area.

Vice president of operations Tami Murray has overseen two expansions of AOP's 35,000 square foot warehouse to accommodate expanding product lines and customer demand. A member of the Rock Rapids city council, Murray said that witnessing the company's growth in the community has been an amazing experience.

"The past eight years have been exciting, and I look forward to continued growth in the years ahead," Murray said. "It is rewarding to be a part of a Christian education company that is molding the future of education every day."

AOP formed in 1977 to create Christian curriculum for schools before tapping the homeschool market as the alternative to traditional schooling began to grow. Over the past three decades, AOP has provided thousands of students with an academically rigorous education, earned several distinguished awards, and partnered with approximately 400 bookstores and online retailers to carry its brands, which include online (Monarch and Ignitia), CD-ROM (Switched-On Schoolhouse), and print-based curriculum (Horizons, LIFEPAC, and The Weaver Curriculum).

The 170 employees at the Rock Rapids location work in administration, customer service, marketing, operations, sales, teaching, and technical support.
