CLARENCE, N.Y., Sept. 26, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- The International Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem welcomes Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, current President of The National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference as a partnering leader in the annual global prayer movement for Jerusalem. Featured as one of "America's 7 Most Influential Hispanic Leaders" by the Wall St. Journal, Rev. Rodriguez officially endorses this international prayer initiative for Jerusalem, and has committed to mobilizing membership churches to join millions of Christians in prayer on October 6th.

Rev. Rodriguez explained: "More than ever, we are in an Anti-Semitic wave, emerging not only on college & university campuses, but also in many public arenas and different governmental settings around the world. It's aiming again at Jerusalem and the Jewish people. The Firewall against Anti-Semitism in the 21st century, IS the body of Christ... the Church of Jesus Christ... I encourage our 25,000-400,000 Hispanic Evangelical Churches throughout America and Puerto Rico to come together on the first Sunday of October - October 6 - as the Church of Jesus Christ, in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem. More than ever, we need to understand that these are troubled times; we need the church to rise up in righteousness and justice."

Dr. Robert Stearns, co-founder of the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem, remarked, "We are deeply honored to have Rev. Samuel Rodriguez join us in praying for Jerusalem on October 6. As an influential leader in the Hispanic Christian community, Rev. Rodriguez is a critical part in this year's success, as we welcome the growing 16 million strong Hispanic Christian Community to this worldwide movement."

Rev. Rodriguez is recognized as one of the most prominent voices in the Christian Hispanic community through many media outlets, including news publications such as the Washington Post, CNN, FOXNEWS, and Newsweek, as well as Christian publications including Charisma and Christianity Today. With speaking engagements ranging from the White House to Princeton University to Battle Cry, Rev. Rodriguez is committed to sharing the Kingdom of God in all arenas.

Rev. Rodriguez joins 1300 other Christian Endorsers who represent different cultures and denominations, like Paul Cedar, Ron Luce, Kay Arthur, Jane Hansen, T. D. Jakes, & Ravi Zacharias. Their united call is for all believers to fulfill The Lord's mandate in Psalm 122:6, to pray for God's peace, blessing, and love to Jews, Arabs and Christians alike in God's Holy City -- Jerusalem.

Co-founded by Dr. Robert Stearns and Dr. Jack Hayford, the annual Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem - the first Sunday of every October - is one of the largest Israel-focused prayer events in history, with churches participating last year from over 175 nations, including those "underground" in seven Muslim nations. An offering is also collected to help all in need -- both Jew and Arab. Churches can download FREE Resources and register to participate on October 6th at www.daytopray.com.
