Undercover Investigation into Texas Abortion Clinics by Leading Pro-Life Organizations Reveal Shocking Violations of Health and Privacy Laws

AUSTIN, Texas, March 1, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Operation Rescue and Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust recently conducted a four week undercover investigation into abortion clinics in the state of Texas, in which two female members of Survivors discovered horrifying violations of health, safety and privacy laws at nearly every abortion clinic they visited.

Ashley Colantuono and Hannah Buckett, team members on the Campus Life Tour, the Survivors campus outreach program, spent four weeks in Texas as key participants in the investigation.  They witnessed firsthand the practices of various abortion clinics where administration and medical staff routinely violated state and federal laws as well as health codes. In each case laws were broken which placed women's health and privacy in danger.

"Our investigation focused on what the everyday woman would experience as a matter of routine at Texas abortion clinics," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "The general disrespect for the health, safety, and privacy of women -- as well as the general public -- was more than evident."

"Through my work at colleges with the Campus Life Tour,  I have met women who are convinced that abortion clinics are safe, law abiding, confidential, and clean. As I discovered during our investigation, all of those claims are false," said CLT member Ashley Colantuono.  "I am horrified at the blatant disregard for the law and lack of care for women who are obtaining abortions. Evidence gathered proves that abortion clinics throughout the state of Texas are unclean, unsafe, and their staff lack respect for women and their right to privacy."

Colantuono and Buckett were also encouraged by staff members at several clinics to evade parental consent laws and child sex abuse reporting laws, while also being coached into lying to a judge about the boyfriends age for a judicial bypass.

"Abortion may be the current law of the land; but abortion clinics should not be above the law.  It's scandalous enough that our tax dollars fund the killing of pre-born babies but these abortion clinics routinely protect child predators and sex traffickers. With our tax dollars these clinics endanger the lives of young women by brazenly violating health codes. Tax and medicare fraud runs rampant as the clinics avoid regulation and accountability. Laws are being broken, I hope Texas law enforcement will investigate thoroughly," states Jeff White, Founder and Executive Director of Survivors.

On Wednesday, March 2, 2011, Troy Newman, Ashley Colantuono, Hannah Buckett, and other pro-life activists will conduct a press conference in Austin where details of this investigation will be discussed.
