CHARLESTON, South Carolina, September 15 /Christian Newswire/ -- At approximately 4:00p.m. (EST) today, Water Missions International (WMI) will deploy five more water purification systems to aid disaster victims in Haiti. These water systems, airlifted courtesy of FedEx, are in addition to four previously deployed by WMI to the storm-ravished country. After any natural disaster, safe water is among the most urgent needs. Together, these nine water systems will purify enough water to provide more than 45,000 Haitians with a sufficient daily supply of drinking water during aftermath of this disaster. WMI is also making preparations to send additional water systems to other countries affected by these storms.

Pierre Prinvil, WMI's Haitian Country Director, is on the ground in the disaster zone. "It's been over a week since the last storm came through and visible signs of improvement have yet to be seen in many areas," says Prinvil. "The Haitian people are in desperate need of help. Safe water continues to be the most urgent need. It is imperative in our efforts to thwart off the spread of disease and death among survivors. These water systems will make the difference between life and death for thousands of my people." Water Missions International is working to designate teams to go into the disaster zone to assist Prinvil with the installation and operation of the nine water systems.
