California Pro-Family Organization Decries 'Harsh and Aggressive' Order to Commence with Homosexual 'Marriages' on June 17

Thomasson: "This will only make Californians more angry and more determined to vote to overrule the court and pass the California Marriage Amendment this November. Ironically, the judges are pouring fuel on the fire of voter outrage."

SACRAMENTO, June 4 /Christian Newswire/ -- Campaign for Children and Families, a leading California-based pro-family organization that defends marriage for one man and one woman, is appalled and saddened by today's order of the California Supreme Court that homosexual "marriages" must begin June 16 or 17 in every county up and down California.

Today's order denied the two petitions for a stay and rehearing by Campaign for California Families and the Proposition 22 Legal Defense and Education Fund. Just as the court ruled 4 to 3 on May 15 to invent "same-sex marriages," today's order was 4 to 3. Ordering the homosexual "marriages" to go forward were Chief Justice Ron George and Justices Joyce Kennard, Kathryn Werdegar, and Carlos Moreno. Voting to delay these so-called "marriages" in respect of the upcoming vote of the people were Justices Marvin Baxter, Ming Chin, and Carol Corrigan.

"Chief Justice Ron George is demanding that his will trump the will of the voters who have already demanded that they -- not judges or politicians -- have the right to decide whether marriage is for a man and a woman," said Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families (CCF). "This is a severe constitutional crisis that can only be solved at the ballot box in November when Californians vote yes to protect marriage licenses for a man and a woman."

"The voters are witnessing unprecedented judicial arrogance," said Thomasson. "This will only make Californians more angry and more determined to vote to overrule the court and pass the California Marriage Amendment this November. Ironically, the judges are pouring fuel on the fire of voter outrage."

"We are considering all remaining legal options, including urging county officials to stand with the written constitution and the written statutes that expressly state that marriage is for a 'bride' and a 'groom,'" added Thomasson.
