Ancient Record of 'Remnant' of Israel Affirms Bible, Creation Story, Sanctity of Life

LOGAN, Utah, Jan. 22 /Christian Newswire/ -- An ancient Central American history, written by descendants of the "remnant" of Israel, is found to contain numerous verifications of historic episodes in the Bible, including the ministry of Jesus Christ, the creation of man in the image of God, abundant testimony of Adam as the first man, and the Ten Commandments, which defend the sanctity of life.

"Some people are surprised that this history, known today as the Book of Mormon, could support the Bible so strongly," says Christian family advocate Christine Davidson. Seeking to fortify the traditional family's Christian foundation, Davidson wrote a collection of epic stories from both the Bible and the Book of Mormon, for families to discuss at dinner time. Reading from a historical viewpoint, she discovered extensive verifications for the Bible within the pages of the Book of Mormon.

In her free online digital book, "Escape to Epic World", Davidson develops her thesis that teaching about the creation and other scriptural stories of epic heroes will build character in youth, strengthen the moral fiber of society, and bring greater peace of mind to families in challenging times. "Commandments of God," says Davidson, "are like signs on the road of life. They keep you out of danger."

According to Isaiah, a remnant of Judah would go out of Jerusalem, and escape the Babylonian captivity. (Isaiah 37:32) With the remnant, true to the Exodus motif, readers of "Epic World" escape the bondage of Babylon (Isaiah's term for "worldliness") to be Christian disciples in the "promised land".

The book's theme, for a general audience, is that families find peace of mind in adhering to the word of God. Epic stories teach principles of Christian character, but do not address specific doctrine.

Since the biblical language of scripture can be daunting, Davidson has dedicated her web site, Epic World, to preserving Judeo-Christian culture, and to developing appreciation of "epic literature", of which the scriptures are an example.
