LANSDOWNE, VA, June 11 /Christian Newswire/ -- Care Net, an organization that supports a network of more than 1,100 pregnancy centers, commended pregnancy centers in Arkansas for receiving an honorable state "citation" on Wednesday for their enduring service to women facing unplanned pregnancies.

Care Net President Melinda Delahoyde said, "It's not every day that those serving in our nation's pregnancy centers get honored and thanked for their ministry to women and men in our communities, but today in Arkansas, they did! We're grateful for Arkansas Sen. Gilbert Baker and others who have taken time to bestow a state 'citation' in order to honor the approximately 42 pregnancy centers in Arkansas that offer free, confidential, and compassionate help to women. Care Net joins with you in thanking Arkansas' amazing pregnancy center staff and volunteers, some of them who have served for more than 23 years!"

The citation was issued by State Senator Gilbert Baker who said, "The Arkansas Legislature is pleased to present an official 'citation' honoring the pregnancy centers of our state. Those that serve within pregnancy centers are to be commended for their sacrifice of time, energy, and resources on behalf of thousands of families in our communities. Your network of support for women is a wonderful example of that great spirit of American volunteerism that is so critical, especially in today's economy."

Pregnancy centers exist to offer information, practical help and emotional support to women and men facing unplanned pregnancies to empower them to carry their pregnancy to term. According to Care Net pregnancy center statistics, nine out of ten pregnant women who visit and receive help from a pregnancy center choose to carry to term. Pregnancy centers offer a wide variety of free services, including parenting and childbirth classes, adoption information, abstinence education, community referrals for health care, limited ultrasound, STD/STI information, and after abortion recovery programs.
