MURRIETA, Calif., April 22, 2015, /Christian Newswire/ -- Students at Calvary Chapel Bible College (CCBC) are accepting the Talents Challenge. Between May 2-9 over 70 dorm rooms will host micro-outreaches all across Southern California. The Talents Challenge is an initiative unlike the formerly popular "ALS Ice Bucket Challenge" in that participants do not challenge others to complete the challenge, but rather they challenge themselves and use the hashtag #TalentsChallenge on social media to inspire others to do the same. The Talents Challenge has already been spread across the country by word-of-mouth, and churches across the nation have chosen to participate.

This challenge was born out of Calvary Chapel Bible College and is based on the parable of the talents in Matthew 5:25-30. The vision is that Christians would choose to actively invest in their communities and spread the Gospel right where they live, using the resources that they already have. The idea is to take $100 and use it to host a gospel-centered micro-outreach of any kind, and it encourages people to be creative! While $100 is enough to stretch anyone's budget, it is a reasonable amount to split between a small group or to raise in a short amount of time. You can watch a video produced by CCBC which explains their heart behind initiating the Talents Challenge.

Some previously completed Talents Challenges include feeding the homeless, giving people $10 to take a "spiritual survey," and a skate park micro-outreach. Upcoming micro-outreaches include ministering to the homeless at different beaches, barbeques at various parks, a car wash, giving away Starbucks gift cards in exchange for time to talk, and making and giving away blankets at a children's hospital. CCBC students have brainstormed and planned these micro-outreaches themselves, and hope to inspire others to do the same.

CCBC is based in Murrieta, California and offers a two-year Bible college program. "To Know God and Equip His Servants" is their mission statement. CCBC equips the next generation of Christian leaders through evangelical Biblical studies, which include individual Bible classes, topical ministry courses, chapels, practical Christian ministry, and community service.
