'Coptic Solidarity' Founding Conference

MEDIA ADVISORY, June 29 /Christian Newswire/ -- Founding members of "Coptic Solidarity," coming from the U.S., Canada, Australia and Europe, held their conference on June 19-20, at Virginia, USA., to launch the activities of the new organization.

The gathered members elected Adel Guindy as president, and a ten-member Executive Committee, whose composition is representative by gender, age and geographical spread.

An overview of the organization's roadmap to achieve its objectives was given by Guindy, emphasizing the vital importance of adopting institutional, organized, persistent and professional work methodology. In its first meeting, the Executive Committee elected a vice president, a secretary and a treasurer and formed functional sub-committees. Objectives as well as tasks and follow-up mechanisms were also set.

A large number of presentations and discussions, focused on concrete future actions, took place during the first day of the conference. Besides founding members, invited guest speakers took part: Dr. Dwight Bashir, deputy director of USCIRF; Tina Ramirez, congressional fellow; Taniel Koushakjian, director of grassroots at the Armenian Assembly; and Pierro Tozzi, senior legal counsel at the Alliance Defense Fund.

The day was concluded with a lecture by Dr. Walid Phares, the known professor of political science, senior fellow at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, and political analyst at Fox News.

Coptic Solidarity is an NGO, registered in VA. (EIN 27-122 0227).
